Where are they now? Denis McLaughlan

Over the next few weeks I am going to be looking at where ex-players have ended up. To start off, I have tracked down Denis McLaughlin. The Northern Irish attacking midfielder played an important role in the first half of the championship season, scoring vital goals against Elgin and East Fife. He was on loan from Hearts but returned at the end of 2006. He then went back out on loan, this time to Raith Rovers, until the end of the 2006/7 season.

He has ended up back out on loan at Gimnastic Torrelavega. Yeah, I had never heard of them either. But a bit of digging reveals that they are a small Spanish team competing in the Tercera DivisiĆ³n, Spain's fourth tier, sitting under the La Liga set up.

They aren't doing very well this season - second bottom at the minute. Can't seem to find any appearance stats - so I'm not sure if Denis is getting a game. One thing is for sure though, northern Spain certianly beats a wintery afternoon on Shielfield.
