Renwick: We are down

Gaffer gives up the ghost...

The Newcastle Journal ran with some interesting quotes from Michael Renwick, following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Brechin...

After watching his Borderers battle back to earn a point with two late goals against Brechin at Shielfield Park, Renwick admitted “Looking at the league table at this stage you would say that Rangers are relegated. The aim now is for the players I have to try and enjoy their football and pick up as many points as possible and if we do get off the bottom then that will be all well and good but I am now looking ahead.

“If that means bringing in young players who are keen to do their best for Berwick Rangers then so be it, that’s what will happen. In fact that actually interests me more than the older players who are on their way down the footballing ladder and might only be using the club to see out their days because in my view there is no future in that”.

Renwick had nothing but praise for his makeshift team, adding: “We really are suffering more than most from injuries most of which are long term. The situation has been aggravated by bad injuries to both Gary Wood who has a fractured cheekbone and Stuart Fraser who broke his ankle at Ayr and to add to that now Scott Gemmill is suffering from an old hip injury which could keep him out for some time.”
