BERWICK 2-0 GRETNA
Witnessed a little bit of history yesterday at Shielfield when a Berwick side took the field against their Gretna counterparts in a competitive fixture for the very first time. It's not very often that that happens so I was glad to be present. It was a fairly robust game with a few "meaty" challenges. From our point of view there were no injuries so we can resume our league challenge next Saturday with our recognised line-up. As you'll know Arbroath and Queens Park chose to play yesterday, quite a sensible decision I'd say, but what that result means is that next Saturday it's first v second, tasty eh? This early in the season as well, certainly hope for a healthy turn out.
Must mention the reserves, who lost by 2-1, for the second game in a row. However, if you look at the league table the three teams they have now played are one two and three in the table. Maybe time for some easier ones, and on that point it looks like they will go to Hawick next Saturday. Royal Albert have been the whipping boys for the last couple of seasons. Yesterday they lost 10-0 to Robbie Horn's Vale so come on boys break your duck next week eh?
